"We created half the galaxy, we destroyed the rest"

- Kain on theories of ARC logic.

The ARC affiliation Is one of the several GM run groups in the game. It is very unlikely you will scan an ARC position in the game as they are rarely seen and never hang around. However as you will find out they are a very important race.

To this day no one knows where the ARC come from. After years of study by many races it was concluded that pinpointing the origin of this ancient race was inconceivable or to put it bluntly impossible. However the one fact to come out of this was that they were old, they were very old. To put there age and what it means in perspective we have to look at the races we know about. Humans have had space flight for hundreds of years and are considered advanced. Races like the Dewiek and Flagritzi have had the technology for thousands of years and considered highly developed. The Architects have been traveling through space for millions of years, what does that make them?

The problem was that there was nothing to base them on, it would be like a cave man trying to draw the schematics of a jump engine, it cant be done. Therefore future studies was based on a more theoretical basis. Imagine a race just gained the ability to travel the vastness that is space, for the first time able to settle of world and hoping to find other races like them to work, trade, fight and learn from. What if there was no one? You would be free to expand, resources would be limitless allowing you to quickly develop to a state so advanced anything would be possible. Disease even death would not be a factor anymore, you could destroy and create planets with a flick of a switch or through mental thought alone. To think of the ARC you have to think of a race that can practically do anything.

The Architects had evolved to such an extent that they no longer require a physical body but instead resid within an organic matrix on board their ships. The actual size of these host ships is unknown but it is estimated at several thousand of our normal hulls making even the huge Flagritz Baseship look tiny. There technology is not built anymore it is grown and is completely organic, there ability to design and alter things at the sub atomic level has allowed them to create not just ships and weaponry but living life forms perfectly designed to serve them.

The size of there civilization is also immeasurable. Looking at the histories of races such as the Felini show there are many galaxies out there we do not know about or can not reach just yet. Even within our own galaxy new systems keep on being discovered, it is therefore likely that the Architects over the many millions of years of space travel and exploration have expanded and settled on billions of worlds in millions of systems in thousands of galaxies.

Just over 500 years ago the Felini race fell to the ARC. At the time the Felini could be described as the best of the rest. They were controllers of a huge empire, creators of amazing technology, there whole race geared towards all things warlike, living in a galaxy still unknown to us. The fact that the few survivors of this race would end up defeating the Flagritzi shows how powerful they were. All that is know of the conflict is that it did not take long for them to win. The Clan who are outcasts of the Felini describe the event as follows:-

The empire grew and we prospered under the guidance of our emperor. But the golden era was to end, for in the creation of the empire we had attracted the attention of beings immeasurably older - beings jealous of our vibrant race. These beings attacked the empire and the empire crumbled and fell before them.

Other scriptures describe the great mistake the Felini discovered in the Architects existence. Legend has it that when the architects were at there height of power they made a decision that they would eliminate death from there race. At the time they still resembled a lifeform much like the races that inhabit our galaxy. They viewed themselves as gods and in order to live forever transferred there entire consciousness into huge host ships. Up until that time they had not encountered any other race therefore they believed they could continue in this state indefinitely. However during the Felini war the ARC for the first time in millions of years experienced deaths. Having never considered the possibility that they could be killed they had not thought about the ability to reproduce there own numbers. without a body they could not form a consciousness to run it. Unable to recreate there own race due to the many years of change the ARC began to worry that if they encountered more races like the Felini eventually they could be defeated. The ARC were in confusion and huge amounts of resources were devoted to try and discover a way of recreating there race. During this time an ARC ship came across the Dewiek. This event triggered complete panic within the ARC, they had to act quickly. Although unable to create lifeforms of there own kind there research was advanced enough to allow them to create beings much more advanced then the lifeforms they were encountering. It was not long before the Hive race was created a prototype race which not long after was replaced by the Hexamon to be the ultimate servants of the Architects.

The DEN war was a fierce conflict for the ARC and in one titanic battle they were faced by thousands of Claws, Wolflords and Direwolfs. it is unclear if the ARC would have lost the war if the great plague had not hit the Dewiek but in the end they were victorious, destroying all but a few of the Dewiek race who hid within a pocket periphery.

The next 500 years is unclear what the ARC did, all that is known is that when the few DEN survivors came out of hiding the ARC were gone. In less then two years the DEN reclaimed all the space the ARC had taken from them. The only opposition they encountered was 3 of the host Bio ships. They were in orbit of a planet that had been the scene of a major battle in the first war. The ships were using debris in the atmosphere to sustain there Plasma weapons. Any ships that tried to approach the planet was attacked automatically and pursued until out of range of the debris field. Fearing a return of the Architects the DEN quickly rallied a fleet and destroyed the ships. The DEN collected hulls and fragments of the ships for study and discovered that they had been running automatically and that allot of the technology had decayed suggesting they had been abandoned many years ago.

And that brings us to today, it is unclear if the ARC still exist and if they still pose a threat. If they did return could the galaxy defeat them? what if a stronger race has defeated them? The one thing that is clear is that with the Architects you expect the unexpected.

Late Breaking news:- There is a colony within a relatively new system claiming to be a representative of the ARC.............
