Extraterrestrial Economic Monopoly

"Our strength is much more subtle, we crush our enemies by the press of a button, a lot more effective don't you think?"

-EEM official on the importance of transfers

The EEM is a GM run affiliation introduced at the start of the game to help the newly founded player based affiliations. Although not needed anymore it still plays a vital role in keeping trade alive within the game .

As the human empire began to expand onto dozens of worlds many new cultures developed, many of these introducing there own currency. At the start this was not a problem but as the number of inhabited planets began to go from a few dozen to a few hundred the financial problem became apparent. The empire realized that they needed to somehow standardize currency allowing citizens to use and have access to money wherever they were. The Empire decided to setup a new neutral corporation which would achieve this goal and so the EEM was born.

In less then 2 years the EEM had got over 80% of the empire adopting there new stellar currency. This involved installing networks and offices throughout each planet and linking them to a central office built on earth. In order to achieve this they had to develop cutting edge communication technology and have a work force of several million to keep everything running smoothly. In another 3 years the entire galaxy was using the EEM for banking and communications, they were the first and only choice of the empire.

Having completed there initial task the EEM continued to branch out. Being the only truly neutral organization the EEM began looking into politics and research. No affiliation could dare risk attacking the EEM as they could not risk there stellar accounts being frozen so the EEM were very safe. It was not long before EEM forces were policing troubled worlds and settling disputes. Also they were able to make sure that human research kept on progressing. As the rebellions in the outer colonies shown, the empire would halt research to build up arms, effectively putting there technology behind other human groups and aliens. The EEM were able to hire the top scientists and fund them properly to keep research going continuously. Also once completed the EEM could effectively supply the tech throughout the galaxy.

One of the areas they focused on was star ship design. Creating the first standard set of Starship designs still used today. Initially introducing 8 designs, with the destroyer(6/12/6) being the largest warship at the time over the next few years they created another 7 standard ship designs and some special designs for the empire. These being the Mega Haula (5/90/20), Super Haula (5/125/20) and the standard Inner empire imperial warship the Dreadnought (30/95/25). The EEM also designed some special designs for there own use, these being the Pocket Battleship (23/70/22) and the most advanced trade ship the Hermes (20/70/40) which has advanced life support systems and a 20tu cloaking s ystem which even the empire has not access to. The Hermes allows the EEM to drop troops in on troubled planets without having to worry about planetary defenses, allowing them to secure EEM assets and bringing an end to a conflict on the ground.

When the Empire moved out into the Capellan systems the EEM went as well. They setup 2 major trade colonies and made friends with the Alien affiliations and got them to adopt the Stellar currency. The EEM maintained there neutral role within the new galaxy and although not policing wars as they do in the inner empire the EEM have been active in helping end conflicts, such as the protection of a DTR colony in the ending stages of the first FGZ invasion, the movement of all DTR colonies out of Darkfold with there ghost fleet and the movement of several FGZ colonies at the end of the second FGZ war. The EEM have mainly concentrated on the inner empire where they are safe, they have limited there investment in the new galaxy as although they know humans need them, Aliens don't, therefore if things turned badly for them they would lose out and that's not good business....
